Lao NA pushes for greater government accountability
VIENTIANE (Vientiane Times) – The National Assembly has been playing a greater role in holding the Lao government accountable, which reflects positively on good governance, according to a report from the United Nations in Laos.
The UN, which is one of the largest aid providers in Laos, has unveiled its mid-term report on the implementation of current Lao PDR-United Nations cooperation, highlighting the achievements and shortcomings of this cooperation.
According to the 2018 Progress Report on the Lao PDR-United Nations Framework for 2017-2021, the UN acknowledges that the rule of law in Laos has been strengthened thanks to the active participation of the National Assembly in scrutinising the performance of the government.
